The Royal Oasis Golf Resort and Casino presented the First Ever Bahamas Texas Hold'em Tournament with just shy of 200 players from 17 states in the U.S.

The international tournament began noon, August 26th and ended 6:00 pm August 28. 65 players were eliminated by the end of the first day and two tables were left with just sixteen players who all received prizes valued at $450,000 on the following day. Final top three winners included young Vincent Napolitano of Long Island, New York who also won the seat in the WPT, long time player Bart Kooshian of Moneta, Virginia, and novice John Hemphill of Columbus, Ohio. The seven other finalists were: Daren Stabinski of Weston, Florida, Jeff Deloian of Coral Springs, Florida, Will Connery of Hallandale Beach, Florida, Dan Prewett of Sarasota, Florida, Frank Lacana of Marco Island, Florida, Robert Currie of Coral Springs, Florida, and Nelson Verbit of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Pro players Ted Lawson (winner of this year's Las Vegas Omaha World Poker Series $500,000), Humberto Benes (2002 Tunica World Open $500,000, Texas Omaha 1993 Winner, and 1988 World Poker Series Fourth), and Mohammed Ibraham (2003 winner of World Series Binnon's Horseshoe Las Vegas and 2003 2nd place Foxwoods) were all knocked out by new comers who came the Royal Oasis to try their luck.
