The Seneca Indians in Western New York have two new gems in their gaming crown.

The Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca opened its expanded poker room yesterday after reopening its refurbished bingo parlor a half-mile away.

Mickey Brown, president and CEO of Seneca Gaming, says the new poker room resembles one he and others created at the Seneca Niagara Casino. He anticipates it will draw players from Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The new room replaces a smaller one in the bingo parlor that was open for several months while bingo was being held in the casino.

The poker room will provide an alternative for those who don't favor the casino's slot machines, craps and blackjack tables. But promoters say it's one of the fastest-growing casino games and may one day hold tournaments.
