"The law clearly provides that all food for the executive residence is provided at the expense of the state," Ross Garber, the attorney for the governor's office, said Thursday. "There is no issue here."
Rowland first came under fire for accepting gifts for his Litchfield cottage from friends, politically appointees and state contractors. Both the legislative and federal investigations have expanded into other parts of his personal and public lives.
The governor has apologized and said he has provided nothing in return to the gift-givers.
